• Corsair Hydro Series H80 and H100 Cooling Performance Profiles

Many people have been hesitating on which of these 2 amazing Corsair cooling systems, namely the  Corsair Hydro Series H80 and H100 to choose. Well, this post gives you some idea on the 2 products. So, take a look so that you can decide which is most suitable for your system.

The Hydro Series™ H80 and H100 CPUss coolers both have an integrated push button on the top of the cooling unit which controls the cooling performance. It allows you to easily switch between three cooling performance profiles. The first mode is quiet mode which allows for quiet operating. If you want better cooling performance you can hit the button which will select the balanced profile. This profile is increases the noise level slightly but gives better cooling performance. Finally, you have the performance profile for the best performance, this profile is the loudest.

In order to make sure you are able to take advantage of these profiles, you must have the fans plugged into the cooling unit of the H80 or H100. The H80 will allow you to control both of the fans in push pull and the H100 will allow you to control the two fans that are included with the H100, as well as an additional two fans for push pull configurations.

Each profile has a set RPM range that it will run the fans at. The fan speed will increase to the upper RPM limit of the selected profile as the liquid temperature rises and lower the fan speed when the temperature allows it. This allows the fans to run quieter.

Profile	Description	LED Pattern	Fan speed
Quiet	Minimum noise profile.		900 rpm with upper fan speed limit set to 1300 rpm
Balanced	Default performance profile. Will operate fans to balance thermal performance and acoustic noise.		1300 rpm with upper fan speed limit set to 2000 rpm
Performance	Maximum cooling performance profile.		1600 rpm with upper fan speed limit set to 2700 rpm

This chart below shows the RPM of the fans as the internal coolant temperature rises all the way up to 40°C.

This should answer some of the common questions about the Hydro Series H80 and H100s cooling profiles, and allow you to choose which profile is right for you.
